Yael Sternhell

Yael Sternhell is associate professor of history and American studies at Tel Aviv University. A historian of the long Civil War era, she received her PhD from Princeton in 2008 and has since written two award-winning books. In 2024-2025 she is the Joseph Engel Visiting Associate Professor at Harvard. Outside of academia, Yael is a regular contributor for Ha’aretz on American affairs and a board member of the New Israel Fund, where she co-chairs the grants committee.
