Here’s How We Took A Stand

WE ASKED YOU TO TAKE A STAND . . . This summer marked the 50th anniversary of the occupation that began after the Six Day War. NIF asked for everyone who cared about Israel to join together, speak out boldly, and act in support of Israelis who are keeping the occupation on the public agenda. We know this work matters because no problem that is swept under the rug will ever be solved.
HERE’S HOW WE STOOD IN NUMBERS
26 Authors, 6 US Cities, 1 Book - Over 1,000 people turned out to hear worldfamous authors Michael Chabon and Ayelet Waldman talk about their anthology of stories about life under occupation. See details.
61% Under 45, 1 Community - Young Jews committed to NIF’s work and to ending the occupation were central to our programming in the global Noami Chazan fellowship and at the #50isEnough giving circles. 61% of our website visitors for this campaign were from people 45 and younger. Learn about the fellowship.
25,000 Showed Up, 1 Campaign - NIF and our partner organizations held dozens of events related to the campaign. In the US and Israel there were 50th book talks, lectures, demonstrations, and art events. In May, 17,000 Israelis gathered under the banner of “Two States, One Hope.” They reiterated their commitment to a peaceful solution and an end to the occupation. Look back at the demonstration.
101,132 Copies, 30 Contributors, 1 Haggadah - 1,132 downloaded or bought “The Jubilee Haggadah,” a traditional Seder guide with thirty commentaries by Israeli thinkers about liberation. 100,000 more were distributed to Israeli households. Browse the Haggadah.
PEOPLE LIKE YOU MAKE THE NUMBERS - 1,044 Donors, $500,000 Goal, $547,443 Raised (and counting) - This campaign began when a group of funders decided to pool their money to encourage more of us to give too. Our initial match pool grew from $180,000 to $225,000. And 1,044 people chipped in to meet that bigger match and raise $547,443 (and counting)! (If you want to to add another gift click here).
Our grantees thank you.
