Stepping up the Fight for Democracy in Israel:

NIF is committed to a vision of Israel that is democratic and egalitarian. And we are ready to fight for it. New Initiatives for Democracy (NIFD) is our concerted campaign to equip Israel’s pro-democracy and progressive forces with the tools to fight Israel’s regressive right—and win.

We are building an interconnected cadre of progressive leadership representing widely diverse constituencies in Israeli society. We are holding the media accountable to ensure it calls out the scourge of disinformation. We are using cutting-edge tools to empower social justice movements and activists. We are reframing foreign policy to provide a new playbook for Israeli progressives. And we are creating new partnerships that expand the constituency for positive social change.

New Initiatives for Democracy: Our Strategies

Liberal forces in Israel — intellectuals, activists, political leaders, and members of the public who share progressive values — are currently struggling to influence the national discourse on the issues of the day and mobilize support for progressive approaches to addressing them. The ability of progressive forces to effectively advance our agenda depends on our ability to create a much stronger set of organizations that cross-cut individual issues and unite and expand our sector. NIF has identified a set of strategies to build the infrastructure and game-changers that Israel needs now. . .
