NIF’s Campaign to Address Humanitarian Needs in Gaza

NIF is raising money for aid organizations, including World Central Kitchen and Clean Shelter, that are equipped to provide food, water, medical supplies, and shelter to innocent civilians in Gaza. Every dollar raised in this campaign goes directly to them.

It is the right thing to do. 

We’ve made this ask of our NIF community before. Last year, we were the first major group in our field to launch a humanitarian campaign for Gaza. The response was incredible. Together, our community raised $1.75 million to support on-the-ground aid organizations.

And we haven’t stopped. For the past year we’ve continued to collect and send funds to our partners on the ground. And we are turning to you now, at this moment of acute crisis, to give again.

More than 2 million people in Gaza, too many of them children, are trapped in a humanitarian nightmare, cut off from food, water, and medical supplies. They are facing a daily battle for survival in a world that too often fails to see them as fully human.

Sending humanitarian aid to people living in Gaza is the right thing to do for Israel’s sake too. Israelis and Palestinians are destined to always live together side-by-side. For Israelis–and NIF supporters who stand with Israel–to sit on the sidelines while Gazans starve, poisons the already bitter well for any future neighborly relationship.

When something extraordinary happens, NIF responds in extraordinary ways. When democracy was under attack by an extremist government in Israel in early 2023, NIF responded by supporting the democratic pushback. When Israelis were brutally attacked on October 7, NIF responded by providing humanitarian aid for Israelis. We bought hotel rooms for the evacuees, we supported (and continue to support) the Hostage Families’ Headquarters, we helped purchase ambulances for unrecognized villages in the Negev, and funded emergency relief centers for Jews and Arabs in the south.

Finally, our effort to send aid to the people in Gaza does not come at the expense of our ongoing support for Israelis. Rather, this campaign complements our funding for work that supports equality and democracy in Israel.

These organizations we are partnering with bring deep experience providing humanitarian aid in extremely challenging situations politically. Risk assessment and robust due diligence is central to both of their response planning. We recognize that aid distribution in Gaza is chaotic, and we as NIF will not be able to exert control on the ground. This is a risk that we have weighed against the importance of getting people help.
